Summer Nature Camp - Fire and Cooking

3 day camp, August 14th – 16th, 11am – 3pm

During this three day camp we will focus on how to make and care for fire safely as well as learning some fun outdoor cooking skills. Participants will be given the opportunity to use flint and steel to make a fire. We will use a Kelly Kettle to heat water for hot chocolate. Once learners have become familiar with all our fire rules and precautions we will light and fire on which we cook some familiar and some less familiar yummies.  All the other aspects of forest school will also be available to participants.

Summer Forest School Program

6 week program, July 8th – August 12th, Mondays 11am – 2pm.

This forest school program runs for over 6 weeks allowing participants to return to the same natural space week after week. This long term processes allows learners the opportunity to see how nature changes over a period of time. Learners also have time to become familiar with the space, the forest school leaders and the other learners. This builds friendship and community. As a learners confidence grows we offer more opportunities for them to push through and beyond their comfort zone. This paves the way for new experiences and learning. We use a child-led approach to facilitate our forest school programs so that what exact activities will be offered will depend on the interests shared by those taking part and their abilities.

Summer nature Camp - Nature crafts

4 day camp, July 9th – 12th, 11am to 3pm

During these four days we will focus especially on nature crafts. All the other aspects of forest school will still be available to participants. Over the duration of the camp participants will be given the opportunity to create for themselves a foot stool made from unprocessed wood and hand tools without the use of nails or screws. As well as this project which will carry through the four days we will also be offering a smaller craft each day and a chance to cook around the fire on the final day.

afternoon forest school program

6 or 12 week program, April 10th to May 15th  and May 22nd to June 26th, Wednesdays,  4pm – 6pm

This 6 or 12 week program allows participants to experience the long term processes that is a key part of forest school. Returning to the same woodland week after week allows us to experience the changes happening all around us all the time. Spring and early summer is a magical time as everyone in the woods is waking up. We notice bird song increasing and tree buds opening. Flowers are emerging and life in the leaf litter is getting busy too.

Spring Nature Camp

March 25th – 28th, 2024, 11am – 3pm

Spring times brings with it more light and longer days. We enjoy sunshine (hopefully) and the woods waking up around us. New life can be seen all around, from the spring leaves on the trees to the lambs in the fields and more.
